Rostrum is a script for Photoshop animators to create a Video Layer(s) that has “recorded” all visible element/animation on the timeline. Go from separate layers per sequence to one Video Layer per sequence.
With Video Layers you can alter any frame without the need to reselect the layer you’re working on. Great for cleaning up linework, going from “pose to pose” to “straight ahead” animation or in preparation for compositing in After Effects. When imported in After Effects the program will keep a dynamic link with the imported psd, which will update when altered.
In the case of very complex psd-files it can result in a smaller file size (without compression or quality loss). The final document will have a clean document structure and there is no need to keep track of multiple folders of image sequences on your hard-drive. Everything is packaged in a single psd-file. Useful for sharing or handing a document over to a collaborating animator.
